Originally founded by Henry J. L. Marriott in 1969 when he developed the first ECG Physician Panel Reader's Certification Examination, and joined
by Jonni Cooper, PhD in 1991 to develop three additional levels of ECG Board Certification.  We now have four levels available to meet the needs
of all healthcare professionals caring for cardiac patients.

The ABCM provides the nations only multilevel ECG Board Certification Examination which is available on the following levels: 

1a)  Telemetry Level Ia Certification Exams - Rhythm Strips and Monitoring Only (for the less progressive medical surgical units who use telemetry monitoring)

1b)  Telemetry Level Ib Certification Exams - (for the more progressive telemetry units) Rhythm Strips, Monitoring Practice, and Beginning 12-Lead Reading

2)  12-Lead ECG Certification Exams - All Physicians, CCU/CVICU and Cath Lab Cardiac Nurses, and Technologists
in acute care areas

3)  Emergency ECG Certification Exams - All Emergency Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses and EMT personnel faced with the daunting task of identifying the emergency electrocardiogram on a daily basis

4)  Advanced ECG Certification Exams - All Cardiologists, Cardiology Fellows Preparing for their Cardiology Boards (of which 43 of the exam is comprised), and all Advanced ECG Teachers (Physician and Nurse).
