The ECG Technician's Board Certification
Exam includes the Recording, Reading, and Responding to 12-Lead ECG's. A
well trained ECG Technician can be invaluable to any hospital cardiology team,
therefore, the ABCM sets a high standard of practice for this key group of
cardiovascular care givers.

12-Lead ECG Technician. The ECG Technician must have a full understanding
of the role and responsibilities of the CMT in order to come behind them and
perform the 12-lead and then replace the ECG leads where they were or where they
belong. If an ECG Technician already holds a CMT Certification, there is
no need to take that portion of the ECG Technician's Board Certification Exam.
This strategy allows for the easy cross staffing of ECG Technicians being able
to perform the role of the CMT in their absence.
ECG Technician Board Certification Exam Includes The:
Identification of the normal and abnormal 12-Lead ECG including all of the ECG
anomalies in the
Intermediate 12-Lead ECG Board Certification Exam and either proof of a
CMT-BC Level I Certification or sit for the
CMT-BC Level I: Cardiac Monitoring Technician Board Certification Exam
